TraceBin support

TraceBin turns one photo of a tool on a sheet of paper into a gridfinity bin, or a flat drawer insert, with a pocket cut to the tool’s outline. It runs entirely on your iPhone.

Getting a good trace

Put one tool on a plain sheet of US Letter or A4 paper, on a surface that is not white.
Photograph from above with the whole sheet in frame. All four corners must be visible.
Use the torch button in dim rooms. Diffuse daylight is best. Avoid hard shadows and strong reflections on chrome.
If the outline misses part of a shiny tool, move the light or turn the tool over.

Fit

0.6 mm clearance suits most printers. Print the test coupon from Settings, then try a 20 mm block: loose means lower the clearance, tight means raise it.
The pocket floor is 1.2 mm above the gridfinity base. Choose a fixed 12 or 8 mm depth if you want more material under the tool.

Files

Exports are binary STL. They open in Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer, and Cura with no repair needed.
Bins follow the gridfinity spec: 42 mm grid, 7 mm height units, standard feet, 41.5 mm footprint per cell.

Known limits

One tool per photo. No finger notches, labels, or magnet holes yet. iPhone only, iOS 17 or later.

Include what happened, what you expected, your iPhone model, and your iOS version. For tracing problems, include the tool, paper size, and a screenshot of the Adjust screen if possible. Reddit comments are public, so please leave out personal information.
